It may very well have been an oversight. But it may have been something they were aware of, but couldn't find a solution for. Either way, I wouldn't hold my breath on it being remedied any time soon, if ever.

I figured that I'd have exactly the same amount of luxon faction I had before the update as I would after donating the FREE Kurzick faction they gave me - NONE!

I don't hold much hope that they'll fix it, especially seeing there as many people would already have donated and lost their opposing faction. Still it would be nice to have an official "We're leaving it as is" because I'm sure there will be scores of people that don't log in at all this weekend or play with only non factions characters, just in case.

A final word from ANet about this would be greatly appreciated, especially since the Luxon faction (Iam kurzic) I got its enough to put me over rank 1

. It will be a big waste especially now that amber its worth something.

And I know that's is difficult to fix this now but, the faction should have been awarded in turn from the start by talking to a npc or something like that to make things fair.

Turned in 30k kurz; consequently lost 30k lux. And I'm not too happy about it.

Like others have said, they probably just left it as is - donate to one, lose it in the other.

It is a bummer though. Had 50k+ faction in each across all my chars. Donated and lost faction in the other. Could have helped get a bit further in the other rank too. It is too bad they didn't have some npc you could talk to about it, thus saving a lot of wasted faction (Like others, I only work on one side at a time. Silly to do both then lose one side). But can't change it now, so we have to be happy with what we got.

My problem isn't exactly faction loss. It's inability to use a guild hall npc due to just logging on. It's just a minor annoyance anyway but it meant you had to do a little work for no reason other than logging on.

Still waiting on a response from Anet on this.

When playing through Factions, I only earned Luxon or Kurzick exclusively to avoid losing faction when turning them in. I don't like losing faction, free or otherwise.

Though I do believe this may have been intentional - to avoid damaging the so-called "economy" from people turning in lots and lots of (free/instantaneous) faction for jadeite/amber or something else.

Yeah if you have one faction higher then the other you are "aligned" to that side and you can not spend the other faction. Just balance it out and trade in your free faction.

Not sure why people are getting all bent out of shape for. It is free faction I don't see the problem with losing it when trading it in. I agree it is annoying getting slightly more luxon then kurzick if you are kurzick aligned. It's free Nuff Said.

Glad you posted this. I've had to keep reminding myself not to log into the game because of this. If it is to be corrected (as it should be), I'd like to wait until then to not screw it up.

The people who keep saying "it's free faction, get over it" are annoying to me. It's not free. It's faction that we have worked for, having previously done these tasks that now give faction rewards. The fact that we did them weeks/months/years ago, doesn't mean we should be entitled to only half the reward that someone would get next Tuesday for doing the exact same things.

If you want to keep both your Kurzick and Luxon faction FREEBIES, then clearly you want to boost both titles. Here's my question. Since Factions came out, when you cash in one, you lose the other, so WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO BOOST BOTH TITLES AT ONCE. Everyone knows that if you want to rank up, you do them ONE AT A TIME.

Stop bitching (yes, you're all bitching) about something that has always existed, and in this case is FREE. If you're that desperate to get both points, why the hell are you trying to rank up with both at the same time. And before someone saying "oh but I just wanted the points for both" you all KNEW that cashing in one would remove the other.

Shut the hell up everyone. Your tears over such a minimal issue is turning guru into a failfest of shitters.

Y...es. That's our argument. We would NOT attempt to earn both factions at the same time. The fact that we did all these things that, in the past, did not offer faction - but are now getting both Kurzick and Luxon faction at the same time, with no choice otherwise but to lose half of what we have earned - is our entire argument.

Although I appreciate the fact that Anet made the changes they did and gave us credit for past accomplishments, I am very disappointed at the implementation on a single point:

1) As I play through the game earning faction I always turn in whatever I get before switching sides so I never WASTE any. The way they implemented this credit for past work, I was forced to waste over 130k faction (in my case, I went all Luxon and chose to waste my Kurzick). What a major bummer
